Construct a well-built question is to use the PICO(T) model before looking for resources. This practice improves:

  • search results
  • clarifies the clinical problem you are attempting to research
  • saves time locating materials.

T = Time (sometimes this is optional as well!)

Try browsing the table of contents or recent articles from journals in your field


After selecting a topic, frame this into a question format, as it will help you determine the key concepts: population, intervention and outcome. You will then use these concepts in your database search.
