Research Guidance for Curriculum & Instruction Graduate Programs: 2. Topic Selection

Choose a topic that you are genuinely interested in reading about!

  • The topic should develop from areas you already have an interest in and where you have existing knowledge.
  • When formulating your research question, it needs to be specific (but not too specific!) and measurable.
  • Conducting a literature review in the CUC databases before settling on your topic is important to discover if your topic is too narrow or too broad based on the search results.
