The purpose of Staff Council is to:

  • Boost staff morale and provide professional development

  • Launch ideas and address concerns​ and provide feedback to Administration​

In order to fulfill these purposes, Staff Council:

  • Hosts monthly meetings on the 1st Thursday of every month @11:30am​. The last 15 minutes of each meeting will be an open forum via Teams for new ideas and suggestions for university improvement

  • Plans social events​ to build stronger staff connections​, creating a unified campus community

  • Promotes eligible CUC resources and benefits to equip employees for their roles, enhance their well-being, and foster a meaningful  workplace

Who does staff council represent?

  • Staff Council represents all staff members at Concordia University Chicago. While our primary focus is on staff concerns and initiatives, we welcome faculty participation in open forums and shared events that foster a stronger campus community.

What can I talk about at the Open Forum?

  • The Open Forum is intended to address suggestions, concerns, and general issues at CUC. The Council will bring these topics to the attention of the administration.

Who is eligible to participate in staff council?

  • Anyone who is a CUC staff member without being in administration.

How do I get elected?

  • In the Spring term, you can be nominated by yourself or by someone else. Elections occur before the summer term begins. You may also be appointed by the CUC President outside of formal elections.

How long is the commitment?

  • The time commitment for Staff Council is approximately a one-hour meeting on the first Thursday of every month, plus serving during staff events and staff parties (most events are staffed in shifts to minimize time commitment). Each elected position is a 3-year appointment.
