Tips for Using APA PsychArticles & APA PscyhInfo

1. Select specific EBSCO databases: APA PsychArticles & APA PsychInfo

These two databases provide a  Methodology Filter to more easily identify Research Studies based on type of study. Go to All Filters and scroll down to Methodology along the right hand side.

2.  Continue with traditional filters, Full Text, Peer Reviewed, All Time as needed.

Full Text identifies articles that are available TODAY in CUC databases.

Peer Reviewed identifies Scholarly Articles.

All Time identifies three different drop down time frames: Past 12 months, Past 5 years, and Past 10 years.

3. Don't forget to use Boolean Operators: AND, OR & NOT

4. Consider using PICOT Search Tool when using EBSCO databases. This tool allows you to formulate guided search boxes based on:

P - Population I - Intervention C - Comparison O -Outcome T - Time

Only the Population and Intervention boxes are required.

The PICOT search tool will take your keywords and build them into a Boolean search string as follows:

(Problem) AND ((Intervention) OR (Comparison)) AND (Outcome) AND (Time)

5. Remember:   Social Work Research = Applied Research Put Into Practice

Research conducted with the purpose of solving problems by suggesting solutions to the problem which are based on the knowledge gained from that study.
