Field Experience Cooperating Teacher Professional Development Information

Field Experience Mentoring Teacher CPDU Deployment Procedure

1.  Mentoring teachers will earn 12 hours of CPDUs for 40 hours of Field Experience time in a respective classroom.
2.  Mentoring teachers must keep a log of Concordia University students and hours of Field Experience observations in their respective classrooms (please see log at bottom of box).
3.  Mentoring teachers will submit the log documenting hours to the Director of Field Experience. Upon receipt of documented hours, the  Director of Field Experience will email the ISBE survey link to the mentoring teacher.

4.  Once the survey is completed the Director of Field Experience will deploy the earned PDs to the mentoring teacher via email.

** Limitation: Each may be counted only once in any five-year renewal cycle, with one exception. In the case of a student whose receipt of supervision is split between multiple supervising teachers, each such teacher may count one-half a period of service and may count service to two such candidates.

Professional Development Request Process

Thank you for your interest in receiving Professional Development Credit through Concordia, University, an approved ISBE provider.

The first step of our process is for a school administrator to fill out an Approved Professional Development Summary Form.  That form can be found in the box to the right of this tab.  Request forms must be received at least one month prior to the requested Professional Development activity.  Please send request forms to Katie Pece, Director of Field Experience (contact information provided above).

The Office of Field Experience will then review your request.  Approvals will be made for requests that meet ISBE requirements.  On the day of your scheduled approved event, the OFE will provide a survey link for your school/organization to share with participants. In order for participants to receive credit for the activity they must complete the survey provided.

The OFE will then share an Evidence of Completion form with the school administrator.  Professional Development credit will be issued for the amount of contact hours completed.
